January 17 Mock Session: Big Win for Emem Abang
On January 17, 2026, the SMNI fellowship held her second Mock Session for the year.
The Mock Session, which began with the Bible reading for the Day by Mr. John Paul, drew 18 eager participants.
President Nsikan Johnny then posed a qualifying question from Matthew 27 thus:
When Judas returned the money he had sold Jesus for back to the Church Council, the Church Council used the money to buy a field. What was the name of the field and what was the field used for?
Only two participants, Emem Abang and Imedu Effiong correctly answered: Potter’s field and as a burial ground for strangers; and proceeded to the actual contest.
The jury panel, comprising Pastor Umah Ernest, Lizzy, and Pastor Moses, assessed the contestants’ presentations.
In the contest:
- Imedu Effiong (Contestant #1) shared from Zechariah 7:8, and his final score was 5/10.
- Emem Abang (Contestant #2) shared from Zechariah 7:7-8, also scored 5/10.
To determine a winner, a tiebreaker round ensued: this time,
- Emem Abang shared from Zechariah 7:13, while
- Imedu Effiong shared from Verse 8 of Zachariah Chapter 7.
Both contestants demonstrated an impressive understanding of Zachariah Chapters 7&8, but it was Emem Abang who ultimately took the top prize with a score of 6/10.
Emem Abang went home with a cheque of ₦250,000.00, while Imedu Effiong, who came second with a score of 5/10 received a cheque of ₦100,000.00.
The Session ended with an electrifying praise session, led my the choir
