Charles Michael Emerges Champion at February 28 Mock Session
In an atmosphere charged with worship, excitement, and spiritual curiosity, the New Disciples Mock Session held on February 28, 2026, delivered a memorable experience for both participants and observers.
The session commenced on a vibrant note with a powerful choir ministration and opening prayer by the president of the fellowship, Mr. Nsikan Johnny.
Serving as the jury for the day were three distinguished assessors: Pastor Moses, John Paul, and Edidiong, who were tasked with evaluating the contestants’ responses and overall presentation during the session.
A total of 26 individuals initially indicated interest in participating in the mock contest. To begin the selection process, the president posed a preliminary question to the contestants:
“How many of Jesus’ disciples did Jesus meet in John chapter 1? Name them.”
Despite the enthusiasm in the hall, none of the aspiring contestants was able to provide the correct answer. This prompted the president to introduce a secondary question to determine who would move forward.
The follow-up question was:
“How old was Ishmael when Isaac was born?”
This time, the response was more confident. Six audience members who were not participating in the contest correctly answered “14” and were instantly rewarded ₦10,000 each for their quick biblical recall. Eight prospective contestants also correctly provided the same answer, thereby qualifying to proceed to the main stage of the competition.
The contestants were required to minister from Genesis Chapter 17, and each participant delivered thoughtful interpretations and reflections on the passage.
At the end of the presentations, Charles Michael emerged with the highest score of 6.5 out of 10, placing him firmly in first position. However, determining the second and third place winners required further deliberation due to closely matched performances by three contestants – Emem Abang, Ajai Taiwo, and Chimzie Aku.
To break the tie, the president posed an additional question drawn from Genesis Chapter 15:
“How old was Abraham when he and Ishmael were circumcised?”
Three contestants – Emem Abang, Ajai Taiwo, and Chimzie Aku – correctly responded with the answer “99 and 13.” However, because only two podium positions remained available, only the first two contestants who submitted their answers were selected for the final placements.
At the end of the session, Charles Michael went home with a cheque of ₦250,000 being the first place prize.
Emem Abang secured second place and went home with a cheque of of ₦100,000, while Ajai Taiwo claimed third place, going home with a cheque of ₦50,000.
The fellowship concluded on a celebratory note with a powerful praise session led by the choir.
