Paul King Wins Oct.18 Mock Session
In a stunning display of biblical knowledge and quick thinking, Paul King emerged victorious in the October 18 Mock Session, a highly competitive Word Ministration competition that tested the scriptural mettle of 14 eager participants. The session, which was based on the book of Matthew, saw participants battling it out in a series of challenging questions, with the top prize of ₦200,000 up for grabs.
The competition got off to a thrilling start when the President asked the participants a question from Matthew 28, “When Jesus met his disciples at the mount in Galilee after his resurrection, what did he say to them?”
The question proved to be a mere warm-up for the participants, as 9 of them correctly answered, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
However, only the first 7 participants to submit their answers were eligible to proceed to the next round. The selected participants were: Ifiok Archibong, Christian Alfred, Ndukeobong Bassey, Ella Bassey, Joseph Edet, Paul King, and Mst. Confidence. The participants were then given 5 minutes to minister from the word, and their scores were as follows: Confidence (4), Ifiok Archibong (5), Christian Alfred (5), Ndukeobong Bassey (5), Ella Bassey (3), Joseph Edet (6), and Paul King (6).
With two participants scoring 6/10, the competition was heating up. To determine the first-place winner, the President asked Joseph Edet and Paul King a question from Matthew 14, “What was the name of Herod’s brother?” Unfortunately, both participants failed to answer correctly, with the correct answer being Philip. However, a member of the audience went home with ₦10,000 for correctly answering the question.
The two participants were then asked another question, “Why did Herod promise to give Herodias’ daughter anything she asked for during his birthday celebration?” Joseph responded that it was because she danced, while Paul King said it was because she danced and pleased the king. For fully qualifying the reason why Herod made the promise, Paul King clinched the first position.
To determine the third position, Ifiok Archibong, Ndukeobong Bassey, and Christian Alfred, who all scored 5/10, were asked to complete Jesus’ speech in Matthew 16:3, “You can discern the face of the sky, but you cannot _______?”
Ifiok Archibong correctly completed the speech, “discern the signs of the times,” and took the third position.
Finally, to determine the 4th and 5th positions, Ndukeobong Bassey and Christian Alfred were asked, “What was the name of Herod’s brother’s wife that Herod married?” Ndukeobong Bassey correctly answered the question (Herodias) and took the 4th position, while Christian Alfred took the 5th place.
In the end, Paul King went home with the top prize of N200,000, while Joseph Edet took home N100,000 for his second-place finish. Ifiok Archibong, Ndukeobong Bassey, and Christian Alfred went home with ₦50,000, ₦30,000, and ₦20,000, respectively.
